INSTEON technology uses ac-power lines and wireless protocol to communicate with home electronic devices and appliances.
Insteon is a home automation networking technology invented by SmartLabs and was developed, based on the X10 model, for control and sensing applications in the home.
Transmission distance over the power line is about up to 1000 meters and over the air about up to 50 meters.
